The Kiss for Lush-cious lips

My love for makeup and all things beauty started way before my passion for fashion did… so I suppose that it’s natural for my blog to go into the direction of beauty blogging, alongside my personal style and fashion-related posts. All my makeup looks play a big role in making or breaking an outfit, and I’d like to share what goes on behind the scenes and my current favourite beauty items and routines with you 🙂 Do bear with me as I ease into this, and let’s have some fun together!

Lipsticks are a part of my daily makeup routine but recently my lips have been really dry, and this got worse with my bad habit of peeling dry skin off, which can hurt and cause bleeding. To tackle this problem, I decided to try a lip scrub on top of my current lip balm application.

“The Kiss” is a limited edition lip scrub by Lush which comes in small 25g tub filled with hot pink-coloured grains, white sprinkles and tiny hearts, being part of their Valentine’s collection. The candy-scented exfoliating grains taste equally as sweet with a tinge of saltiness, previously described to me as “a mix of Popcorn and Bubblegum” by one of their staff when I popped by the outlet a few weeks ago. I’m a sucker for sweet-smelling products so I loved the scent, but it felt a bit odd the first few times I used it because I couldn’t stop licking it off! It tasted like candy and I had to remind myself that along with the scrub, I was licking some dead skin off as well. These days I use a damp tissue or cotton pad to gently dab off excess scrub.

I love how gentle “The Kiss” feels. I’ve never used a lip scrub before so I expected chunkier grains (like those of a facial exfoliator) but these are very fine and get the job done. It’s best in my case to use it every alternate day at least, followed by a lip balm. I tend to do so before I sleep, so I’ll wake up the next morning with moisturised and plumpy lips!

Probably the biggest drawback for “The Kiss” was the price tag – about $20 per tub. However, judging by how little product I use per application, I’m pretty sure that my tub of sweet, pink goodness will stay with me for a very, very long time to come! Not a bad investment for a softer, more lush-cious pout 😉
