About a week ago, I received an email from Meryem, a reader from Morocco, who wanted some style advice for a rock-themed event that she was going to. I was more than happy to put a few looks together for her!
Look 1: The Classic Rocker Chick
What’s rock n’ roll without leather? For this look, I styled a classic rocker chick getup with a leather-look jacket over a slouchy white tee, some acid-washed grey jeans and a pair of leather lace-up boots. Finish it off with a dark red lip and you’re ready to go! You may choose to bump up the edge with some studded accessories or chains, but don’t go overboard – less is more.
Look 2: Grunge-inspired
The second look is grunge-inspired and styled around another rock fashion staple – a red plaid button-down. Get the right cut and fit following your physique and preferences, for instance, I would prefer a longer and oversized button-down because I feel that it’s a lot easier to move in and it suits my body type best. Pair this with a band print muscle tee and some leather-look pants. Top it off with a pair of black monochrome Converse sneakers and a basic smoky eye with Maybelline’s 24-hour Colour Tattoo in Timeless Black!
Look 3: Gothic grunge-inspired
A mix between looks 1 & 2, this look styles items from both looks to create an outfit with an almost-gothic grunge vibe. Throw the leather jacket over a muscle band tee and some grey acid-washed jeans with the plaid shirt tied around your waist, so it acts as an accessory rather than a main clothing item. Complete the look with a pair of black monochrome Converse sneakers and a black cateye liner to keep it simple, but you may also swap the sneakers for a pair of leather boots and sport a dark red lip and eyeliner to play up the gothic grunge factor.
Rock-inspired outfits can be tricky to put together but I did my best with these looks and I do hope that Meryem found inspiration in them. If you are looking for style advice, feel free to drop me an email and I’ll do the best I can to help!
