I’ve probably had about ten different people telling me the same thing since I landed in the Netherlands two weeks ago. Granted, I’ve had bad days (and even worse nights) when I start to yearn for a little Singapore sunshine but we haven’t seen any snow yet, so it’s all good… for now.
The past few days were sunny and beautiful. A sweater was still essential, but I didn’t have to lug my heavy coat around like I would have done on a regular, gloomy day. I snagged this light trench coat from a flea market in Singapore, as I did with these blue high-waisted corduroys.
As promised, here are my new boots! (Pardon the mud.) Aren’t they precious?
Greetings from the land of windmills and stroopwafels! To those who have been asking about my well-being – thank you for your kind words and concern. Holland is beautiful (rainy, but beautiful) and the people here are probably the nicest I’ve ever come across in my whole 20+ years of existence. I have welcomed the art of layering with open arms but I am still living out of my suitcase for now, so do bear with me.
Since I haven’t quite settled down yet, I’ve been throwing on the same few items whenever I head out (don’t judge). Think comfy, 7-year-old jeans and a sweater that’s actually made for cold weather. I recently welcomed a pair of lovely new leather boots into my not-so-impressive shoe collection. I walked away from them once after trying them on at a store, but came back for them after a few days when I realized that I couldn’t stop thinking about them. (Is this love?) Be prepared to see them in every post – I am ready to wear them to death. I promise that I’ll be less selfish next time and share more close-up shots of them with you.
I have been wearing this colour on my lips everyday since I arrived in Europe (Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush – if you’re wondering). I am so glad that I can finally type this out without feeling like a complete wannabe – it’s the perfect shade for winter!
The past week was spent running errands and travelling all over the country settling administrative matters for my upcoming semester. In two days, I fly to the Netherlands to study for half a year under an exchange programme with my university. I am beyond thrilled – spending 5 months abroad will probably be the biggest adventure for me yet, and as much as I am anxious about the thought of surviving in a foreign environment on my own, I am excited about the experiences that await me across these waters.
Yesterday was a very happy day for my family as my uncle finally tied the knot with his one true love. Much of the day was spent dancing, laughing, and running away from all “when is your turn?” questions. The dress code for family members was purple attire (no complaints – it’s my favourite colour!) I chose a white, gold-embroidered abaya over a lilac inner piece. This white abaya is one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. I adore gold embroidered-anything.
