After many months of putting it off, I finally took a trip down to the MAC store and got myself a new tube of Ruby Woo (my previous tube rolled out of my pocket at a fashion week last year).  You don’t have to wait for special occasions to put on a red lip – pairing it with casual, slouchy getups adds a fresh touch and injects a little glamour to the overall look. Ruby Woo remains my ultimate favourite red lipstick! I’ve tried looking for substitutes but nothing came close to this wonderful colour that I would describe as a pin-up girl red… of course, being a matte lipstick, it is very drying, but nothing that a little lip balm can’t fix!

My outfits for school usually comprise of basics thrown together, but I do make the effort to jazz things up once in a while. The biggest challenge for me with this getup was choosing the appropriate accessories — my necklaces are nothing but basic and with a top as printed as this, it’s best to keep accessories to the minimum. I opted for a simple, delicate necklace that I dug up from my mom’s stash of forgotten jewelry some time ago, and grabbed a bag in a matching shade of mustard yellow. Perfect colours to combat the back-to-school dread!

Hellooo, Junior year! Farewell to my amazing Summer and even more amazing first part of 2014. It’s time to make this second part equally as wonderful as the first, if not more 🙂 I kicked it off today in a maxi Matrix-esque cardigan, feeling like a wizard whenever it trailed behind me and fluttered in any random gusts of wind that came my way. Not too bad for Day 1, eh? Also, I finally, FINALLY, decided to wear a new headscarf out, but of course, made the mistake of trying it for the first time on the day itself… typical. I am absolutely in love with the shimmery texture of this one, though it’s a lot softer than what I’m accustomed to. I really hope it stiffens soon! It’s going to take me a few more wears to get used to it. Then perhaps next time, I can show my necklace off a little bit more instead of (unintentionally) having the headscarf steal the attention away 😉
