Hellooo, Junior year! Farewell to my amazing Summer and even more amazing first part of 2014. It’s time to make this second part equally as wonderful as the first, if not more 🙂 I kicked it off today in a maxi Matrix-esque cardigan, feeling like a wizard whenever it trailed behind me and fluttered in any random gusts of wind that came my way. Not too bad for Day 1, eh? Also, I finally, FINALLY, decided to wear a new headscarf out, but of course, made the mistake of trying it for the first time on the day itself… typical. I am absolutely in love with the shimmery texture of this one, though it’s a lot softer than what I’m accustomed to. I really hope it stiffens soon! It’s going to take me a few more wears to get used to it. Then perhaps next time, I can show my necklace off a little bit more instead of (unintentionally) having the headscarf steal the attention away 😉
My love for oversized garments stem from my everyday battle against the heat back in Singapore. I am in love with the fabric used for this dark blue button-down and it is extremely lightweight, therefore perfect for layering in this hot and humid weather. I have been sporting the red-and-blue combo quite frequently as of late – 3 times the past week, the last I counted – and no, it didn’t have anything to do with the 4th of July weekend about two weeks back (though I did, coincidentally, wear red, white and blue on that particular Saturday). When I’m not out in sandals, I take my trusty 4-year-old Converse sneakers out instead and they add a touch of cool to any outfit I choose for the day. If you’ve been observant over the past few months, you would have noticed that I have been paying more attention to the bags that I carry together with my outfit… this beauty here was a find from the leather market in Florence, borrowed from my sister.
Fun fact: The white maxi tank dress I’m wearing was actually worn the other way round, so that I didn’t have to deal with a low neckline in front! Gotta keep finding ways to make various pieces of clothing work for you 😉
