I remember the day I pulled this printed button-down out from a pile of pre-loved clothes many months ago in a market in Rotterdam… I went back to my apartment, chucked it into my closet and never wore it out ever since. In my current print-crazed phase, I dug it up again, thankful that I picked it out all those months ago! It’s perfect for jazzing up a dark-toned outfit on lazy days. For this getup, I threw it over a black tee and a pair of charcoal-coloured pants. I put some glasses on for good measure –  I figured I could pass off as an artist-type that day. Hah!

Trust me to put together another floral + leather outfit combination, I don’t think I’d be comfortable wearing my florals any other way… I’m not a big fan of slotting myself into categories but a dear friend (and upcoming stylist) mentioned the term “Girly Grunge” and I suppose it’s the closest thing to describing this whole getup. If you have been following me on Instagram, you would be aware that I have been busy with Eid celebrations this week (Eid Mubarak errrbady), therefore the fading henna art. I recently rediscovered this lovely floral button-down in my new closet – it was given to me by a close girlfriend who was clearing hers out about a year ago. It’s about time I started digging up more of these forgotten pieces, don’t you think?

I never thought that I’d be one to mix prints but the occasion called for something a little more dressy than the usual, but nothing too over-the-top. I eased myself into print-mixing by pairing a neutral-coloured print that I’m comfortable in (my favourite – stripes!) with a fun, brighter-coloured one that gave my outfit that pop of colour it needed without being too loud. This pair of heart print jeans are in a lovely shade of dusty pink that makes for easy matching, and I absolutely love it that the hearts are actually furry (yes, furry!) and not printed onto the fabric, as they usually are. Threw on a tiny backpack and some sneakers for that extra cool, and I was good to go!
